Frequently Asked Questions

Who developed ZOIC?
ZOIC was formulated by a team of health and science professionals at Solis Brands based on input from physicians, nutritionists, dietitians, and fitness trainers, and it offers consumers the best quality nutrition available. Dr. Marcus Elliott, MD, from Harvard Medical School is part of the Solis advisory board and also counsels top sports organizations, such as the New England Patriots and Utah Jazz, as well as many other NBA, MLB and individual Olympic athletes.
Why have functional beverages have become so popular?
Functional beverages add value to the consumer — they are a healthy and convenient way for busy, on-the-go people to get all the nutrition they need each day. Dietary trends may change over time, but consumers will continue to seek ways to supplement a “healthier” lifestyle with minimal effort. ZOIC’s nutrient composition makes it ideal for general nutrition, healthy weight management, and exercise & fitness programs.
If someone is in good shape and eats a balanced meal plan, do they still need a functional beverage?
Functional beverages, such as ZOIC, can be an insurance policy and a safety net that gives people comfort that their daily nutritional requirements are being met. People who are conscious of what they eat and of their overall fitness want to get the most benefit out of what they eat and drink. Because the body can’t store protein for future needs, as it does carbohydrates, it’s important to eat protein at regular intervals during the day. ZOIC provides consumers with the complete package of nutrients and high-quality protein in a convenient and great tasting package.
Has there been any clinical research conducted on ZOIC?
To date, there have been numerous studies showing the value of high-quality protein for an active lifestyle [including studies at Harvard University and Penn State University]. Identified benefits include increases in energy levels, lean muscle generation, improved recovery after exercise, and immune system maintenance. ZOIC has been routinely tested by the USDA and found to be true to content, meaning the product contains what the label lists. The Solis Brands Science & Medical Studies Committee plans to conduct a comprehensive clinical study with ZOIC in 2010.

What does it mean when it says that ZOIC is qualified under the USFDA Heart Health Claim?

Diets low in saturated fat and cholesterol decrease the risk. Guidelines recommend that American diets contain less than 10 percent of calories from saturated fat and less than 300 mg cholesterol daily. The average American adult diet has 13 percent saturated fat and 300 to 400 mg cholesterol a day.
